Storyboard - "Modern Gangs" original opening.
Storyboards are the best way to go to help you remember what shots you want to take in the way you want to take them. These are most likely used more in action scenes or scenes that require CGI, but if you want to do them in any scene, do, because it's a good thing for you, even if you are an experienced or professional cinematographer. The above is from the original opening scene to "Modern Gangs". The scene will still be done, but will be a little after the new opening.

Bellow is the SHOOTING SCRIPT SCENE for April 4, 2003
INT. MEETING ROOM – NIGHT

CARTER TIMES switches on the light to the meeting room. Slowly a group walks in. With CARTER there is SCATMAN and DON WATTS.

SCATMAN
So, where’s Chick?

DON
He’s sick. Got the flu or something… he hasn’t been up to anything lately so…

SCATMAN
And Fred?

SCATMAN
Vacation.

CARTER
Well, there’s no question something’s going to go down in a few weeks tops.

DON
The real question is how.

CARTER
Time will tell.

DON
Sure will. Scatman, tell us what we need.

SCATMAN
About 15 months worth of ammunition. 10 assault rifles…I think we should all invest in explosives. High explosives.

CARTER
No, we couldn’t do that. Setting off dynamite in a neighborhood? That would definitely increase the risks of getting caught and persecuted.

SCATMAN
True. But it has its advantages.

CARTER
Too risky.

SCATMAN
We don’t even have to get it going in a neighborhood, Carter. You think we are dumb?

CARTER
Maybe misinformed. Truth be told, though, we do need explosives. But like I said…

CARTER relaxes in the chair. But a figure makes him stand up. This is JIMMY HARRISON (EDGE), the leader of the gang.

JIMMY walks into the room and puts his hat on a lamb.

JIMMY
I’ll be the judge of that one.

CARTER
Edge…

JIMMY
Trying out my position, Cart?

CARTER
No.

JIMMY
You do know my brother is the one that inherits my position, don’t you?

CARTER
No…

JIMMY
Wanted to feel the power.

CARTER
Not at all.

JIMMY laughs

JIMMY
Ok. Ok. Enough of this. So, explosives would be needed, eh?

DON
If possible, Jim.

JIMMY
No, I agree with Carter. It’s a risky deal. I wouldn’t get caught red-handed with them.

FROM the HALL, DEVON walks to the threshold. He’s sweaty and is catching his breath.
DEVON looks in, noticing their stares.

DEVON
(WITHOUT ANY CARE)
How ya doing?

DEVON walks away.

DON
Jimmy, the rest of us agree that your brother wants nothing from the gang. No inheritance, no respect; nothing.

JIMMY
Why are we suddenly put back to my brother, Don?

DON
Can’t hide the fact that…

JIMMY
He will. But until that day comes, you will understand and follow my leadership. That’s a final.

JIMMY walks away from CARTER. He finds the letter we saw at the beginning. It’s crumbled.

JIMMY (cont’d)
So, this is why I called this meeting. Not upgrades with weapons because we all know Carter can give us
those dirt cheap…just this one note. The Jeffersons have not ever sent me a note in years. This is something I think we could all agree with. But what’s the note? I’ll tell you what it is… it’s 100% bull. For a reason I don’t see how, they want us to help them.

SCATMAN
With what?
JIMMY
They say there’s evidence that links us both to some murders. You know, murders between our families.

DON
Bull crap, evidence has not been found. Both of our gangs made sure of that. If the other gets found out then we do too. And I know for sure we clean our mess up. I think it’s a way to get us right where they want us.

JIMMY
That’s very true, DON, but don’t get too cocky and don’t underestimate anything you do. But, yes, me and you both agree on the same thing. Jefferson’s are not going to give up with out a fight.

SCATMAN
What do you propose we do?

JIMMY
We send them a message.

CUT TO:

EXT. OUTSIDE – NIGHT

DON and CARTER walk to their car.

DON
What message?
He laughs.

CARTER
Who knows. He talked to Scatman alone so it can’t be another murder. If it was, he’d be talking to us.

DON
Well… all I know is that I’m getting some sleep.

CARTER
You know, I dread everyday that one of these days, Jim… I mean Edge, is going to kick the can. And then, who will lead the gang?

DON
He’s very deluded. Very ignorant… But I’m not going to spend my whole life worrying about it. Honestly, I’m tired of being in a gang.

They BOTH get into the car.
